"COLUMBUS CENTRE"
"Centro Scuola e Cultura Italiana"
is acknowledged as a non profit moral body
and it was founded in 1976 by Alberto Di Giovanni.
It is connected to "Columbus": an
immense italian oasis in the centre Toronto.
|
| In
the enormous building that contains the school
there are very well equipped sports facilities,
but also italian restaurants which are open
both to the students' relatives and to all
those Canadians who appreciate the Italian
culture in all its aspects. The real engine
of the centre is Alberto Di Giovanni, onehundred
per cent Abruzzese because he was born in
Rocca Morice.
He organizes the teachings and the courses
to study the Italian language and culture.
Today more than 3000 students regularly attent
couses at "Centro Scuola e Cultura Italiana",
mainly during normal school hours, thanks
to an agreement protocol among the Centre,
"Toronto Catholic District School Board"
and "York Catholic District School Board".
Among the initiatives promoted by the Centre
there are sports, theater events, exhibitions
and concerts, all done by the young students
of the school. |
